Reduce energy usage by 50 percent for existing infrastructure and achieve carbon neutrality for new infrastructure.
The Dallas 2030 District has set energy reduction goals for 27 million committed square feet within Dallas. For existing buildings, the goal is a minimum 20 percent reduction below the national average by 2020, via incremental targets, ultimately reaching a 50 percent reduction by 2030. For new buildings, major renovations, and new infrastructure, the goal is an immediate 60 percent reduction below the national average and the realization of carbon neutrality by 2030.
The purpose of 2030 Districts is to designate urban areas across the country that are seeking to foster sustainability through improved building performance.
